Description

Ripples is the bench that Japanese architect Toyo Ito, winner of the 2013 Pritzker Prize, designed for Horm based on a simple image: the ripples raindrops create on water. It was awarded the Compasso d'Oro in 2004 and is now one of the most recognizable pieces in the Italian brand's catalog.

The seat is made from five layers of solid wood (Canaletto walnut, mahogany, cherry, oak, and ash) that form concentric rings in different colors. It is hand-carved and finished by Horm's cabinetmakers, with a concealed metal bar for reinforcement. The plywood legs are edged with walnut veneer, and the curved lower panel is made of birch. Adjustable feet and a vegetable oil finish.
